In 2014, I embarked on the adventure of a lifetime!

I was born in Nanning, China, and I lived in an orphanage before being placed in foster care. I was adopted when I was eleven months old, and I’ve lived in Iowa ever since. I was raised by an amazing single mother along with my three younger sisters.

After graduating from high school, I began college at Iowa State University. I’ve always known that I wanted to study abroad. And after a year of planning, scholarship applications, and paperwork, I was finally on my way towards spending a year in China!

My blog contains my travel log as I explored China and an account of what it’s like for an adoptee to return back to their home country. I wanted to share my unique experience with other adoptees that might be thinking about traveling abroad.

I spent the summer living in Hainan, China with a family friend, then during the fall and spring academic semester, I studied in Shanghai, China with the Alliance for Global Education!

My university wrote an article about my experiences abroad. You can check it out here!

  1. Sorry to creep, but I love your blog! I’m an ISU CRP Alum who’s trying and failing at blogging right now, so yours is truly an inspiration. Thanks for all of your insights and experiences! I hope you have a great rest of your time in China and at ISU.

Let me know what you think!
